This was the first time in two years that I picked up my camera again to create something. I had taken a long break from photography, but for some reason, on that particular day, the sun was shining here in Edinburgh, and I decided to go to Portobello, the city's beach, where I had never been before. Instinctively, I brought my camera with me. There were many children running around and playing in the sand. I watched the children play, their joy so effortless, so pure. For a moment, I felt like I was watching my own childhood unfold before me. I tried to capture a memory as it was happening—theirs and mine, of when I was a child. It was my first time photographing people; in my projects, I usually focus on nature. Yet, in that moment, it felt natural, as if the camera had guided me to where I needed to be. It was a breath of fresh air, a reminder of how much photography means to me and how much I had missed it. And that, if I allow it, photography will always be there—waiting for me to return. And I will be forever grateful for that.
